Exhibition Launch!

In our last exhibit for 2024 we invite artists supporting and from our local LGBTQIA+ community to exhibit artwork that reflects the meaning of being United together. Dive into the profound journey of communities historically marked by violence, hardship, discrimination, and stigma. Throughout history queer and disabled identifying individuals have faced the painful experience of concealing their identities and swallowing shame under societal pressures that deemed them wrong or evil. Yet, in the face of such adversity, the arts have emerged as a sanctuary—a space where we can express, create, and thrive as our truest authentic selves.
Celebrating the transformative power of art as a means of self-expression and solidarity, the LGBTQIA+ community has harnessed creativity to express a personal and collective identity. As queer artists take space and share their stories, they not only affirm their own worth but also extend an invitation for deeper understanding and empathy from all who engage with their work. This commitment to freedom of expression and acceptance has fostered progressive change and united us to celebrate our diversity. Our differences can bring us together, build our strength and radiate brilliance within our unity.
We are super excited to showcase some new works never before exhibited from emerging artists, along with some new pieces from our local favourites! We have a unique blend of mediums on show like sculpture, paintings, ink, photography, and spray paint. We will hear local artists Sara Boni, Nigel Matejcic, and Robert Eckert speak on what inspired their works and have The Honourable Robert Simms MLC formally launch the exhibit!
