Audrey van den Heuvel Artist Statement
Audrey van den Heuvel is a multi-media artist living in the Adelaide Hills.
Expressing her feelings through various art forms has always been of vital importance to her.
After leaving school, Audrey was fortunate to study at the SA School of Art.
Whilst working and raising a family she completed an Associate Diploma in Crafts
and a Certificate III in Art and Decoration. Studying provided a valuable creative
outlet in her busy life.
Audrey works from her home studio and volunteers at the Murray Bridge Regional Gallery, and she is also a member of Bridge Arts and Neami.
Currently she is working using oils and acrylics for her painting. Additionally,
she experiments with Cyanotype; recycled textile baskets; hand-made paper;
pots utilising concrete, metal, and organic matter; upcycled farm boards, and sculptures.
Audrey says that experimenting is “like an awakening of new thoughts and skills”.
Her influences are her family, friends, the wonder of nature, the importance of the
environment, and the value of recycling and repurposing.
Audrey hopes that her art gives an eclectic view of day-to-day items as well as giving insight into and appreciation of the world we live in.
