Sara Boni’s life has always centred around her desire to create. Active in the arts as an art and design teacher for 35 years, her own direction as an emerging artist has flourished over the last 2 years. The influence of her congenital vision condition brings uniqueness in her life, motivating a deeply felt interpretation of her subjects, seeking to portray and celebrate each person’s individuality. Her one-of-a-kind clay vessels shown in her first solo exhibition for SALA in 2023 represented a personal, introspective and emotional connection between frustration and triumph. Sara was shortlisted for the Keith Murdoch award providing her with encouragement and motivation to continue with her art practice. Her second solo exhibition for SALA in 2024 showcased portraits using a collection of symbols and images revealing meaningful, vibrant interpretations of diverse human stories. Often revealing human survival, resourcefulness and triumph. The portraits honour each person’s accomplishments, hopes, dreams and aspirations. Sara continues to exhibit in both solo and group exhibitions in South Australia and is currently planning her third solo exhibition for SALA 2025.
