Nigel Matejcic is 38 years of age and is based in Adelaide, South Australia. He completed his Certificate 3 in Visual Art from TAFE in 2020. Nigel’s chosen medium is painting in a new age style of Abstract Expressionism. Through his paintings Nigel creates the Art of Being and Wabi Sabi, the Japanese art of the acceptance of impermanence. Freedom, Peace and Acceptance are the Art of Being. Freedom is found through painting “outside the lines” – with unsymmetrical arrangement of lines. Peace is found from present moment awareness and painting before conscious thought arises. Acceptance within the works is of life and himself – while he paints – free from judgement. Nigel creates art from his passions of spirituality, mental health and art. Expression of “Who you are,” is at the core of Nigel’s works. Who we are is present moment awareness and Being.
