This painting depicts a crumbling homestead on the Goyder’s Line, the point of separation in South Australia between lands suitable for all sorts of agriculture and lands suitable only for grazing. I lived and worked the outback above the line, and I am drawn to the image because of how it depicts the harsh reality of soldiers blocks that were unable to sustain a family.

Bundy grew up in the outback and these experiences continue to inform his artworks. Art came to him late in life after ill-health, and has helped him to heal. Forced to leave the outback and a life driving trucks by an injury, I’ve swapped grease splatters on my shirt for paint splatters.
An outsider artist, Bundy‘s works explores outback life, mental health and themes of acceptance.
